What was it used for? Ancient Roman jar full of holes baffles archaeologists

Researchers have reconstructed an 1,800 year-old Roman jar that is full of holes.

  1. Maybe it was being used as a holder for many short javelins? Other than that, I have no idea on what they use it for. I think they intended to do it for no reasons for the sake of art.
